Mu’azu Sambo, Minister of Transportation is on a three day visit to Port Harcourt, on an assessment tour of rail and port activities and infrastructure. He said he was impressed with the state of port facilities and would meet with all stakeholders to ensure that challenges are tackled and the port, maximized.

Mr Mohammed Bello Koko, Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, said Port activities in Rivers State must be revived to take off congestion from the Apapa Port. He also disclosed that plans to realize the Bonny Deep Sea Port has reached an advanced stage, saying that a Deep Sea Port in the South South is necessary to complement activities at the Lekki Deep Sea Port in Lagos and the Apapa Port.
