Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emefiele, visits President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura today to brief him on the Naira redesign and its newly reintroduced cashless policy.
He says the redesigned N200, N500, and N1,000 denominations are now available in banks and ready for public use. He insists that the CBN policies are geared toward developing Nigeria’s economy and not targeted at anybody.
Emefiele also explains that the implementation of the policy has been deferred severally to prepare and deepen Nigeria’s payments system infrastructure.
He urges Nigerians to embrace the various electronic channels available for banking and financial service and also remember to take their old N200, N500, and N1,000 banknotes to the banks before January 31, 2023, deadline.
