… the “biggest single case of looting of the Commission’s resources says NDDC spokesperson, Charles Odili

Peter Nwaoboshi, Nigerian senator, a former Peoples Democratic Party member representing Delta North District in the Senate, accused by a government agency of N3.6 billion contract scam, has joined Nigeria’s ruling party, the APC. Nigeria’s President Buhari welcomed the senator into “the progressives family” on Friday according to a release sent to PREMIUM TIMES, by presidential spokesperson Garba Shehu.

Niger Delta minister, Godswill Akpabio, in July, 2019 accused federal lawmakers of corruption and poor job delivery of NDDC contracts. And earlier in June 2019, Mr Nwaoboshi was alleged to have used 11 companies as fronts for a N3.6 billion contract in the commission which was not executed and the money not refunded. All the lawmakers fingered in the scam have denied any wrongdoing, while the government-ordered probe is still investigating the claims.

Mr Nwaoboshi is the chairman of the Senate Committee on the Niger Delta and the NDDC and like other named lawmakers denied any wrongdoing.
