The Commissioner of Police for Anambra State, CP Enaghe Obono Itam, has announced that police operatives, in collaboration with other security agencies, have successfully eliminated over 100 criminals as part of a security initiative known as Operation Udo Ga Achi. During this operation, numerous camps used by armed groups have also been located and dismantled.
At a press conference held in his office in Amawbia, near Awka, the commissioner showcased some of the apprehended criminals. He emphasized, “Today’s discussion aims to shed light on significant achievements by the Anambra State Police Command regarding major incidents in the region during the recent period. We have neutralized more than 100 dangerous criminals and effectively dismantled various criminal camps in locations such as Ufuma, Eziowelle, Achalla, Ogbaru, and others across the state.”
Additionally, he mentioned the arrest of Chidiebere Nwosu, a suspect in a kidnapping case in Uruagu, Nnewi, along with the neutralization of some of his accomplices involved in an attack on police personnel from the Rapid Response Squad following a successful operation on October 3, 2024.

This operation has also led to the discovery and destruction of several camps used by armed groups.
During a press briefing at his office in Amawbia, near Awka, the commissioner presented some of the captured criminals. “Our meeting today is to highlight the significant progress made by the Anambra State Police Command in addressing major incidents in the state during the recent timeframe. We have successfully neutralized more than 100 notorious criminals and dismantled numerous criminal camps in areas like Ufuma, Eziowelle, Achalla, Ogbaru, and beyond.”
He also addressed the recent tragic case of Hon Justice Azuka, a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, who was kidnapped on December 24 and found deceased on February 6. The commissioner confirmed that all individuals involved in this heinous act have been apprehended.
