President Tinubu Rattles Federal Varsities Hierarchy

President Bola Tinubu has made top-tier leadership changes across Federal varsities. The President has removed Professor Polycarp Emeka Chigbu as Acting Vice-Chancellor at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), his tenure was ending on February 14., effectively replacing him with Professor Oguejiofu T. Ujam who becomes the new Acting Vice Chancellor of UNN.

Professor Oguejiofu T. Ujam, the new Acting UNN VC would be in office for only six months and would not be eligible to apply for the permanent position. The same term applies to other VC appointed across Federal varsities.

Aisha Maikudi, the vice-chancellor of the University of Abuja (UniAbuja) now, Yakubu Gowon University has been replaced with Professor Lar Patricia Manko as Acting Vice Chancellor, also for a six-month term.

Gen. Ike Nwachukwu has also been reassigned as Pro-Chancellor at the University of Uyo. while Engineer Olubunmi Kayode Ojo replaced the General as the new Pro-Chancellor of UNN. Previously, Ojo held the same position at the Federal University of Lokoja and the Federal University of Oye-Ekiti. Professor Zubairu Tajo Abdullahi, the Pro-Chancellor of the University of Uyo, has now been moved to the Federal University of Lokoja.

Senator Joy Emordi. leaves Alvan Ikoku University of Education, and replaced by Senator Sani Stores as the new Pro-Chancellor.

Additionally, Barrister Olugbenga Kukoyi, a current Council Member at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, has been appointed the new Pro-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka, Anambra State.

Senator Lanre Tejuoso, formerly Pro-Chancellor of the University of Agriculture, Makurdi, is now the Pro-Chancellor of the Yakubu Gowon University, Abuja. He leaves his seat for Senator Joy Emordi, the former pro-chancellor of Alvan Ikoku University of Education.

Bayo Onanuga, a special adviser to President, Bola Tinubu, announced the significant leadership changes in a statement on Thursday.
