Buhari has directed relevant government agencies to extend possible support to the families of the kidnapped children.
Mr. Buhari has charged the nation’s security and intelligence agencies to hasten and ensure the safe rescue and recovery of the around 200 children abducted from an Islamic school in Tegina, Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State, on Sunday. This incident makes it the second mass abduction of School Children by bandits in Rafi Local Government Area within six months.
The President’s media spokesperson, Garba Shehu, said Mr Buhari has condemned as unfortunate, the latest incident of kidnapping of children from schools, and urged all the agencies involved in the rescue operation to do their utmost in securing their immediate release.
He also directed the concerned government agencies to extend possible support to the families of the kidnapped children. Eleven of the kidnapped students were released by their abductors later, according to reports because they were too young and could not walk.
