The acrimony and disaffection in the
ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)
over the party’s Muslim/Muslim presidential ticket, has continued to fester unabated.

A widely circulated voice note calling on Northerners to shun presidential candidates of southern Nigeria extraction, purportedly issued by a northern elder, Alh Sani Zangon Daura, is alleged to be causing disaffection for Tinubu’s candidature among northern voters.

The north west presidential campaign council has started a counter measure urging northern supporters to disregard the advise. It says –

“The Tinubu/Shettima joint presidential ticket is merely coincidental and not out of any desire to suppress a particular set of people.”

The spokesman, Muhammad Molash, in a recent statement, said “Our attention has been drawn to a widely circulated voice note of a supposedly northern elder, Alh Sani Zangon Daura, calling on Northerners to reject the presidential candidates of southern Nigeria’s extraction.

“The North West APC Presidential Campaign Council is therefore calling on Northerners to disregard the antics of these elders, who hide behind a bogus northern agenda, to promote their individual and self-serving interests.”

It added that Tinubu has constantly supported presidential candidates of northern extraction and is qualified to lead the Nigerian project in the February 2023 presidential elections.
